Understanding Custom AccuSoft Cushion contour options

The Ride Custom AccuSoft Cushion is offered with a choice of contour options: Full Contact and Ride Contour. These contour options have generated some questions so we wanted to highlight the difference between the two… perhaps most readily understood by seeing the photographs below.

Full Contact: The cushion is manufactured exactly as captured (left column below).

Ride Contour: The cushion is manufactured with Ride’s patented mechanism of support. The Ride Contour option carves a recess 3/8″ deep into the surface of the cushion underneath the high risk bony areas (right column below).

The Ride Contour option does not create offloading under the ischial tuberosities.

Rather, it creates a loading bias underneath the proximal thighs and posterior-lateral buttocks, which then reduces forces underneath the ischial tuberosities (as shown in pressure map image, above right).

The Ride Contour option is not available when ordering extra soft foam.

NOTE: The Ride Custom AccuSoft Cushion is not a fully off-loading cushion. For orthotic off-loading, consider using the Java® Cushion or Ride Custom 2 Cushion for the ultimate in skin safety and postural support.

Looking forward…

From Ride’s perspective, the Complex Rehab Industry appears to be recovering well, as we are seeing incoming orders at a rate consistent with previous years. There remains uncertainty about the ability for recovery to continue at the current pace in the coming months.  While we remain optimistic and committed to operating full-steam ahead, we encourage you to submit orders as soon as possible to ensure year-end delivery.

Thanks to all of you out in the field who are back at it — working with people whose lives often depend on getting appropriate seating and complex rehab technology.

Throughout 2020, Ride has been able to fulfill custom product orders within 12 days over 98% of the time. Recently 85% of custom orders have shipped within 8 days.

We love getting messages like this one, from Dave Blaser of NuMotion:

“You guys got inputted one of my castings on the 20th and it’s freaking at my door already… that’s 10 days for a Custom Back!”

We expect the usual uptick in orders as folks try to deliver seating systems before year-end. So we’re encouraging everyone to get their orders in the pipeline as soon as possible, especially with so many unknowns due to COVID-19. You can count on Ride to do everything we can to get your orders filled as quickly as possible.

We thank you for your business. Work smart, be well, Ride on!

As we navigate COVID-19…

medicalresearch_glass

Ride Designs and Aspen Seating are committed to operating in the best interests of our clients, business partners, staff, community — and all those we serve.

The Ride Designs manufacturing facility is designated as essential and is currently open. At this time, our supply chain remains robust and we are operating at full capacity.

We will continue to remain operational to the fullest extent permitted by law and in compliance with all required safety and health regulations. Any changes to our status will be posted to the website.

We have taken the following steps in an effort to help slow the spread of the virus.

At our office/production facility:

• If any of our team members show any symptoms of illness, they are required to stay home.

• Non-essential travel has been postponed or cancelled, along with upcoming on-site Custom Certification courses.

• Outside vendors have been instructed to suspend visits until further notice.

• Employees that can, are encouraged to work from home.

• Additional internal infection control measures have been implemented to minimize risk.

In the field:

• Visits will be for client care purposes only and must be coordinated with, and approved by, local staff in advance.

• Personnel have received training on infection prevention measures, including hand sanitation and methods to disinfect equipment and tools in the field.

• We are encouraging the use of virtual support whenever possible.

• We are suspending large in-person meetings and using virtual technology instead.

Through the new Ride University online educational platform (launched at ISS 2020), we are now offering CEU and other training courses at no cost through December 31, 2020.

We’re monitoring the situation closely and will keep you updated as plans/policies may change and develop.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we navigate these uncertain times together.

Take care.

P.S. Animated infographics that show how social distancing may affect infection rates are amazing… and have now gotten more views than any story in The Washington Post’s history.
