Specify vertical position of the lateral supports when ordering a Ride Custom Back with no scan

We’re proud to introduce yet another exciting enhancement to our Ride Custom Back ordering process. Building on the success of our “no-scan” option, we’re now offering the ability to specify the vertical position of the lateral supports on the finished back – giving you even more tools to optimize your clients’ seating solutions.

Overview: Let’s talk
about our existing no-scan solution

In case you missed it, let’s revisit the option to order a Ride Custom Back without a shape capture and scan.

Ride’s traditional shape capture process allows the Custom Back to be made to fit virtually any size and contour and remains the best method by which to order the Ride Custom Back for clients who present with significant postural asymmetries and require substantial support to maintain optimal posture.

The innovators at Ride Designs® understand there are cases that call for the ability to order a Ride Custom Back without the need to physically capture and scan a client’s shape.  For example:

  • Clients who may have been considered for custom linear/planar seating.
    • The Ride Custom Back provides a better shape, a more intimate fit and is easier to clean than traditional custom linear/planar seating.
    • Unlike traditional linear/planar seating, the multi-axially adjustable FlexLoc® mounting system allows adjustment in every plane.
  • Clients who present with unique postural deviations that can be corrected or accommodated with seating with a universal contour, but require other options and customizations and adjustability not available with a prefabricated back support.
  • Clients who are unable to participate in or tolerate the shape capture process for the scanned method

The Ride Custom Back can be ordered with client-specific measurements and desired finished product dimensions. No scan required! 1 Also no certification is required to order a Ride Custom Back made from measurements!

Instructions for
our new lateral measurements

Instructions for ordering have been added to our order form. They involve providing us with a few client-specific anatomical measurements, and some desired dimensions of your finished Ride Custom Back: Back height, back width, and now…

Give us the desired finished overall lateral height, and the desired finished lateral pad height and depth. This will allow you to specify a gap between the bottom of the lateral support, and the seat surface.

Here’s what it looks like on the Ride Custom Back order form:

Take a look at Step 3a. This is where you tell us the what the height of the top of the lateral supports should be, as measured from the bottom of the back.

Next, in step 3b, you’ll tell us how tall and deep to make the lateral pads.  If you don’t want a gap between the bottom of the lateral support and the seat surface, the measurement in Step 3a and the measurement in Step 3b. (tall) will be the same.

For example:

If the order form is completed as follows:

3a.  Client’s left side height at top of lateral __10_____”

Client’s right side height at top of lateral, ___11____”

3b.  Client left lateral pad ___7___” tall x ____6____” deep

Client right lateral pad ___8__” tall x ____6___” deep

The laterals on the finished product will look like this:

In another example, if the order form is completed as follows:

3a. Client’s right side top of lateral, ___11____”

3b. Client right lateral pad ___11__” tall x ____6___” deep

The client’s right lateral on the finished product will look like this:
